An idea

I recently had an idea I'd like to try out. So I'm posting here to see if anyone would be interested in the concept.

The events of most roleplays happen within a relatively short period of time. A couple months, maybe a couple years, even. However, that's usually it.
What I have in mind is a roleplay that will span several centuries, with characters dying of old age and new characters, possibly their descendants, taking their places. Instead of focusing on specific individuals, the roleplay would focus on the events these characters are a part of, and on how those events shape the world. The setting would be, at the beginning, medieval, with magic maybe existing. The direction the world goes to from there depends on the choices the characters make. A character might cause a war to break out, which in turn would cause the world to be united under a single empire after a century. Or the opposite might happen, with countless tiny kingdoms making the world a cartographer's nightmare. Or a character might make an invention that revolutionizes some aspect of life. And this invention might cause wars to break out.
And the world will progress. From medieval, it would go to a renaissance-like period of time, and further. An industrial revolution might happen, or one might not. If it goes the same way ours does, it might eventually reach the modern age. And then beyond that. History might follow ours, or it might not.

So, the individual scenes would be about events in the lives of the characters where they are a part of something that shapes the world somehow. Or maybe they themselves are not a part of something important, but their descendants might be. For example, a character's great-grandchild might become a famous architect, and a scene might tell the tale of how the character first became a stonemason, thus laying the groundwork for that descendant's building-related occupation. Or maybe simply the tale of how a later character's grandparents met each other. Anything, really.

So, would anyone be interested in a temporally large-scale roleplay like this?
