What to Put in Your Autoresponders

By Dr Kevin Nunley

Mel writes this morning ?I?ve got autoresponders and no idea what to put in them, what to put in the subject lines, what to put in the body.?

Don?t feel alone Mel. Just about everybody with autoresponders wonders the same thing. So much so that most businesses never get around to using the responders that come with their web hosting package. What a mistake! Autoresponders are at the very heart of what the Net does best ? keeping people automatically updated until they are ready to buy.

Here are some ideas:
* Start by thanking the person for requesting the information at your site ? or wherever they were when they gave you their email address. This immediately separates your message from spam.

* Fill your autoresponders with sales letters, product/service updates, news about new releases, your observations, or links to other sites and information you think customers and prospects will be interested in.

* 3 messages will work just fine. 7 is the standard, but for no really good reason. 10, 15, 20 spaced out over time can do a phenomenal job of keeping customers and prospects informed and interested until they buy.

For years I wrote autoresponder messages to be 300 words or about one page in Word. In recent years messages have gotten shorter ? a few paragraphs to 200 words.

Your subject line should be 3 or 4 words that sum up your message. The first message might have ?Thanks for requesting information from MySite.com.? The next could be ?Why the Gizmo 3000 saves 25%? and the next ?Why people love the Gizmo 3000.?

Have the first message go out immediately. Have the next 3 go out one each day while the prospect is still hot. Have the rest space out every few days, then one a week, one every two weeks, then one per month for several months.

Views differ on how often messages should be delivered to prospects. I have a feeling a lot of it depends on what kind of customers you have and how much email intensity they?re used to. Some Internet Marketers send out several messages per day while others will hit you with a message per day for a few days, take a break, then go back to frequent messages.

It takes some customers months or years before they?re finally ready to buy. I can?t tell you how many times I?ve received an order from a first time customer who says ?I?ve been getting your emails for 10 years.?

Many business opportunities come with sales letters you can use. You can also borrow articles from article directories. Customers don?t care that you did not write the article. You get credit for being the smart person who found the information.

Health Benefits Of Friends And Family: 8 Reasons Why It's Healthy To Spend Time With Loved Ones

'Tis the season to gather those you love and soak up the quality time together. And really, we should be doing this all year round -- even research shows that spending time with loved ones is good for health.

From decreasing loneliness to slashing stress levels, from helping with quitting smoking to making a difference in healthy eating habits, check out these eight reasons why it's healthy to spend time with people you love.

  • Parenting Lengthens Life

Being a parent -- especially being a mom -- is linked with <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/12/06/parenting-lengthens-life-danish-study_n_2249270.html?utm_hp_ref=uk">living longer</a>, according to a study of 21,276 couples from Denmark. The research, published in the <em>Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health</em>, showed that women who gave birth to children were four times less likely to <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/12/06/parenting-lengthens-life-danish-study_n_2249270.html?utm_hp_ref=uk">die early from cancer, accidents or circulatory disease</a>. Fathers also had lower risks of early death from these causes, HuffPost UK reported.

  • Big Social Networks Are Good For Your Health

Having many strong social ties could help you live a longer, healthier life, according to a study from Brigham Young University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill researchers. The study showed that <a href="http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,2006938,00.html">social ties' impact on longevity</a> is actually the same as that which is seen between people who smoke and don't smoke, <em>TIME</em> reported. The study is based on the findings of 300,000 people who were included in 148 different studies, and was published in the journal <em>PLoS Medicine</em>.

  • Sisters Decrease Loneliness

Having a sister is good for your mental health, according to research from Brigham Young University. Specifically, researchers found that having a sister could help preteens to <a href="http://news.byu.edu/archive10-aug-siblings.aspx">feel less lonely</a>, self-conscious and afraid -- and more loved. And researchers found that having a sister <em>or</em> a brother was linked with more inclination to do good deeds, according to the <em>Journal of Family Psychology</em> study.

  • Friends And Family Make A Difference In Your Healthy Habits

Your friends and family are highly influential when it comes to the <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/07/friends-family-health-influence_n_1000829.html">kind of lifestyle you lead</a>, according to a 2011 survey. Blisstree.com reported that 36 percent of people say their nutrition is affected by influence from their friends and family. And 46 percent of people in the survey said that their loved ones make a difference in their overall healthy lifestyles.

  • Dads Influence Teens' Sexual Activity

Having a strong bond with Dad makes a big difference when it comes to <a href="http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865565047/Dads-advice-very-influential-in-teenagers-sexual-activity.html?pg=all">risky teen sexual behavior</a>, according to a study in the journal <em>Pediatrics</em>. <em>Deseret News</em> reported on the study, conducted by New York University and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researchers, which showed that dads who were open about talking about sex and their opinions on sex with their children made a bigger influence on their children's actual sexual activity. The <a href="http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865565047/Dads-advice-very-influential-in-teenagers-sexual-activity.html?pg=all"><em>Deseret News</em> reported</a>: <blockquote>The study suggested that fathers' attitudes and the warmth of the parent-child relationship help shape a teenager's degree of sexual activity. For instance, teenagers appear to wait longer to become sexually active when they know their fathers don't approve of teenage sex.</blockquote>

  • Talking With Mom Lowers Stress

Spending some quality talk time with Mom could help to <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/05/12/stress.mother.voice.call/index.html">lower stress</a>, according to a 2010 study conducted by University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers. Health.com reported that talking on the phone with Mom seemed to decrease stress hormones and increase the feel-good chemical oxytocin among young girls, between ages 7 and 12. "Mothers know without being instructed how to <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/05/12/stress.mother.voice.call/index.html">soothe a child</a>," oxytocin researcher Anne Campbell, of Durham University, who was not involved in the study, told Health.com. "They know because they come from a long line of women whose genes remained in the gene pool because they kept their kids alive. The challenge is for scientists to illuminate how mothering works -- and that's where oxytocin comes in."

  • Sisters Spread Happiness

Spending time with your sister could <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7977454.stm">help you feel happier</a>, according to a University of Ulster study. The study, which included 571 people between ages 17 and 25 and was presented at a meeting of the British Psychological Society in 2009, showed that people with sisters had greater family communication, BBC News reported. "<a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7977454.stm">Emotional expression</a> is fundamental to good psychological health and having sisters promotes this in families," study researcher Tony Cassidy told BBC News.

  • Mothers Influence Child's Obesity

Being close with your mom could have an impact on your weight, according to a study published last year in the journal <em>Pediatrics</em>. The study shows that the relationship between a mom and her child when the child is young seems to be <a href="http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2011/12/26/embargoed-26-dec-2011-0015-et-obesity-in-teen-years-may-be-blamed-on-motherchild-relationships/?iref=allsearch">associated with his or her weight</a> later on as a teen. Specifically, young kids with close relationships with their moms were less likely to be obese in the study in adolescence, compared with those with more distant relationships with their moms during toddlerhood, CNN reported.

The world mourns with Connecticut; gifts pour in

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) ? People around the world are grieving with the residents of Newtown over the murders of 26 school children and staff, offering their support by sending toys, money and other gifts.

An outpouring of tens of thousands of teddy bears, Barbie dolls, soccer balls, board games and more has come from toy stores, organizations and individuals worldwide.

"It's their way of grieving. They say, 'I feel so bad, I just want to do something to reach out,'" said Bobbi Veach, who was helping Saturday at Edmond Town Hall, where all of Newtown's children were invited to choose a toy.

After the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre Dec. 14, victims were still being buried Saturday. A service was held in Ogden, Utah, for 6-year-old Emilie Parker. Others were held in Connecticut for 7-year-old Josephine Gay and 6-year-old Ana Marquez-Greene.

In Ogden, people tied pink ribbons around trees and utility poles in memory of Emilie, who was buried at Evergreen Memorial Park next to her maternal grandfather, who died 2? months earlier.

Dozens of emergency responders paid their respects at the start of the service for Josephine at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown, walking through the church and up to the altar.

A horse-drawn carriage brought the miniature coffin of Ana to The First Cathedral church in Bloomfield, where 1,000 mourners gathered to bid goodbye. The service included a performance by Harry Connick, Jr., who has played with the girl's jazz saxophonist father, Jimmy Greene.

The 20-year-old gunman, Adam Lanza, killed his mother earlier across town and took his own life after the school massacre. Police still don't know why he did it.

Monsignor Robert Weiss of St. Rose said in a Christmas message that he has been asked frequently how people should celebrate the holiday. He urged them to celebrate the day in its truest sense and pray for hope, healing and peace.

"We know that some hearts in this town will be broken again on Christmas morning when that one special person is not there to open their gifts," he wrote.

Millions of dollars have poured into Newton in the aftermath of the tragedy. The United Way of Western Connecticut said the official fund for donations had $2.8 million in it on Saturday. Others sent envelopes stuffed with cash to pay for coffee at the general store, and a shipment of cupcakes arrived from a gourmet bakery in Beverly Hills, California.

The Postal Service reported a six-fold increase in mail in the town and set up a unique post office box to handle it. Some letters were addressed to the "First Responders" or just "The People of Newtown." One card arrived from Georgia addressed to "The families of 6 amazing women and 20 beloved angels." Many contained checks.

"This is just the proof of the love that's in this country," Postmaster Cathy Zieff said.

Peter Leone said he was busy at his Newtown General Store when he got a phone call from a woman in Alaska who wanted to give him her credit card number.

"She said, 'I'm paying for the next $500 of food that goes out your door,'" Leone said. "About a half hour later another gentleman called, I think from the West Coast, and he did the same thing for $2,000."

The basement of the town hall building resembled a toy store, with piles of stuffed animals, dolls, games, and other gifts. They all were inspected and examined by bomb-sniffing dogs. The children could choose whatever they wanted.

Newtown resident Amy Mangold, director of the local Parks and Recreation department, attended with her 12-year-old daughter, Cory. She acknowledged that most attendees could afford to buy their own gifts but said "this means people really care about what's happening here. They know we need comfort and want to heal."

Many people have placed flowers, candles and stuffed animals at makeshift memorials that have popped up all over town. Others are stopping by the Edmond Town Hall to drop off food, toys or cash. About 60,000 teddy bears were donated, said Ann Benoure, a social services caseworker who was working at the town hall.

Tom Mahoney, the building administrator who's in charge of handling gifts, said the town plans to donate whatever is left to shelters or other charities.

In addition to the town's official fund, other private funds have been set up. Former Sandy Hook student Ryan Kraft, who once was Lanza's babysitter, set up a fund with other alumni that has collected almost $150,000. It is earmarked for the Sandy Hook PTA.

Rabbi Shaul Praver of Congregation Adath Israel is raising money for a memorial to the victims. He said one man wrote a check for $52,000 for the project.

Several colleges, including the University of Connecticut, have set up scholarship funds for Sandy Hook students and relatives of victims.

Isabel Almeida of the local United Way said that while the town is grateful for all the support, it has no more room for gifts. She encouraged people to donate to others in memory of Sandy Hook victims.

"Send those teddy bears to a school in your community or an organization that serves low-income children, who are in need this holiday season, and do it in memory of our children," she said.

What is the different between Gore&#39;s human resource management ...

People involves in any organization as human resource. No matter of the bigness of the firm, its abilities and performance is depends on its people. In 2000, Gibbs emphasized human resources as the most valuable and unique assets for any organization. Human resource management is the management of people within an organization. The aim of human resource management is to maximize the prolificacy of an organization by optimizing the effectiveness of its employees. As Edward L. Gubman observed in the Journal of Business Strategy, ?the basic mission of human resources will always be to acquire, develop, and retain talent; align the workforce with the business; and be an excellent contributor to the business. Those three challenges will never change.? It is impossible that a business can be successful without managing human resource effectively. Michael Armstrong articulated his book ?A Handbook of Human Resource Management? that a successful business is most likely to be achieved if the personnel policies and procedures of the enterprise are closely linked with, and make a major contribution to, the achievement of corporate objectives and strategic plans. In the past few decades, many human resource management studies and researches had done by the professional, they were trying to develop a new school of human resource management to manage human resource more effective and efficient to achieve higher organizational performance. W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore) is a global organization with a history of more than 50 years. According to Steward and Brown (2009), Gore is benefited from their taking a job design strategy to replace formal planning and role assignment with a process in which roles are evolved. The strategy is successful because it fits with the overall strategy of differentiation through innovation. In doing so, Gore hires creative employees and then facilitating them to use their unique talents by encouraging new ideas from them.

What is the different between Gore?s human resource management and traditional human resource management?

Gore?s human resource management has used the strategic human resource management instead of traditional human resource management, it emphasized the human resource management integrated into the business strategy and improving the productivity of employees to make the business success. It can avoid some typical problems of the traditional human resource management.

Human resource management is the administrative actions related to the issues related to human resource. Human resource management generally focuses on the functional activities like planning, staffing, training, appraisal, orientation and communication. Human resource management also focuses on supervision, monitoring, employee motivation, compensation and skills management. Those approaches aimed to improve employee performance, ensure employees compliance?to the procedures and achieve the goals of the organization. Unfortunately, the employees always complain that the traditional activities of human resource management is inflexible, not emphasizing to achieve the organizational goal, different form the employees expectations, lack of responsiveness and lack of line management experience.

?

The reason of the employees complains on the traditional human resource management activities are the business world keeps changing but the organizations are still using the old method to manage their human resource.? The world has changed, the demographic has changed, the living standard increased, the educational level enhanced, it is impossible to use the traditional management to manage the modern reality. Therefore, a new school of human resource management has been developed in the last two decade, named ?Strategic Human Resource Management?.

Strategic human resource management is about the integration of human resource management strategies with the organization strategic goals and objectives.

Debunking Doomsday And Exploring Maya Science

The ancient Maya had many scientific accomplishments: they tracked the Moon and the planets, knew a solar year was 365 days, and even invented the concept of zero. As for the 2012 apocalypse? It's simply a misinterpretation of the Maya calendar, say archaeologists Marcello Canuto and William Saturno.
