Installing a fully up-to-date electrical service will make your home stand out to potential buyers.

When doing upgrades on your home, make sure you do not invest much into an upgrade that cannot possibly get you a return when you sell it. For example, do not pay $ 30,000 to upgrade a kitchen in a home that you paid $ 90,000 for if most houses in the area only sell for around $ 100,000.

Home improvements can be a lot of fun when you do it yourself. Make them more enjoyable by having a positive attitude and enjoying the job along the way. Take before and after photos to show your friends and family what you did as the job progressed and feel the pride of doing it yourself.

Keep bowls of fresh fruit on your dining room table and kitchen counters. Use a decorative bowel and fill it with bananas, pre-washed apples, oranges, even grapes. Not only will the bowls of fruit add beauty to your home they will be right there when you need that quick snack.

If you are improving your home to increase its sale value, focus on the important portions first. Trying to renovate the whole home will become overly expensive and provide a diminishing return on investment. Items such as exterior siding, plumbing fixtures, lighting, and kitchen appliances, however, will be universally appealing as you try to sell the home.

If you do run into complications when trying to remodel a section of your house alone ask for help. There is no shame in asking for help when you come across an obstacle. A home that is properly remodeled looks better than a home that was remodeled poorly and not done properly.

It is important to get the proper permits if you plan on any home improvement projects that require plumbing, electricity, structural or other major alterations. If you are not sure what home improvement projects would require a permit, contact your city council or hire a professional to do the work.

JBL details his experience climbing Mt. Elbrus

I had three goals in trying to climb the highest mountain in Europe, 18,511-feet high Mt. Elbrus. (PHOTOS?| PAST UPDATES)

I wanted to raise money for the kids I work with daily in Bermuda (Beyond Rugby Bermuda), I wanted to plant a WWE flag on the summit and I wanted to not die. I accomplished two out of the three. (WATCH: JBL AFTER THE CLIMB)

I have worked with WWE since December 1995 and because of them I have been able to do some wonderful things. I have been to the war zones of the Middle East eight different times and was part of the first civilian group to visit Afghanistan shortly after war started. I was with WWE when we went down, as one of first groups to do so, to thank the heroes that were still saving lives in the burning rubble at Ground Zero. I was with WWE when we were the first mass gathering just two days after 9/11 in one of the most emotional events I have ever been part of in a sold out arena in Houston. From Make-A-Wish to literacy programs to an anti-bullying campaign, WWE has gone way beyond what companies would dream to do to make the world a better place.

So, when I decided to climb the Seven Summits (highest mountain on each continent) and do it to raise money for kids I work with daily in Bermuda that are deemed ?at risk? by society, I knew I wanted to partner with my family again in WWE.

I?m 45 years old and have had a broken back, four knee surgeries and two herniated discs, so I knew this would not be easy. But, we tell our kids daily that everyone has problems, it?s what you do with what you have that matters. I wasn?t just raising money for the kids; I was doing my best to set an example. We all have mountains to climb, mine ahead of me were just literal.

I trained for more than half a year for Mt. Elbrus. I had gotten to where I would do a stair master up to three hours straight and when in New York City, climb up to 400 flights of stairs in my apartment building (which took 3 1/2 hours). I had gotten up to 18 miles hiking around Bermuda. I can?t run due to my injuries so I would walk the 18 miles, taking about 4 1/2 hours.

I trained walking with a backpack for several hours straight many times a week.

This was not a ?Hollywood? production; this was something I put the time and effort in to accomplish, exactly what we tell our kids they must do to be successful.

My plan was, and is, to climb the Seven Summits over the next two years, and Mt. Elbrus was first on the list. (WATCH: JBL PREPARES FOR THE CLIMB)

After flying through Moscow and St. Petersburg doing the normal tourist visits of Lenin, Red Square and the Hermitage while still training for what was to come, we arrived in the Baksan Valley which is located just north of Georgia and next to Chechnya. The valley was closed the year before due to the conflicts, and I was hoping that another conflict would wait till I had left.

We immediately started to acclimatize, which involved up to 10 hours of climbing at altitude. George Mallory had first developed this when trying to summit Mt. Everest in the 1920s. You hike higher to an altitude and then return to increase the red blood cell count in your body so your body can absorb more oxygen; though, this also raises the risk of heart attack.

Climbing for hour after hour straight up is hard; doing it with half the oxygen is indescribable. It?s like climbing stairs for hours with a plastic bag over your head, your heart beats so fast you can feel it racing very loudly in your head and you never really get your breath.

I got my first dose of mountain medicine on one of these hikes. I had gotten terrible blisters and one of the climbers who had just returned from Mt. Everest, Dr. Mark Schwab (the best climber on the mountain), gave me duct tape off of his climbing pole to wrap my foot, which I did.

Pelosi predicts 6-3 vote in favor of health law

WASHINGTON?? As the U.S. Supreme Court prepared to announce a decision on President Barack Obama's signature health care law, one of the legislation's chief supporters predicted that it would be upheld by a 6-3 vote.

Nancy Pelosi, the House of Representatives' Democratic leader, said she can see Chief Justice John Roberts siding with Obama in an anticipated divided Supreme Court ruling on Thursday.

"I believe 6-3," Pelosi told the Reuters Washington Summit on Wednesday.

She reasoned that a decision upholding the law would require the support of Justice Anthony Kennedy, a moderate conservative who often controls the outcome of the court's rulings since the justices frequently are split in their decisions.

"If you get Kennedy, I don't think that Roberts would want it to look political" and oppose it, Pelosi said, alluding to the fact that Roberts has said he favors unanimity on his court.

As a Democratic senator from Illinois in 2005, Obama opposed Republican President George W. Bush's nomination of Roberts to the Supreme Court.

In 2010, the same year the president got his healthcare law through Congress, Obama ripped into the Roberts court for a ruling that allowed corporations to spend unlimited money in elections.

This week the court again drew the wrath of the White House -- as well as Pelosi and other Democrats in Congress -- by reaffirming its 2010 decision by rejecting Montana's century-old ban on businesses engaging in political spending.

Pelosi voiced confidence that the health care law she helped draft will meet any constitutional test. "It is ironclad. We didn't do this off the back of our hand," she said.

"We believe in judicial review in everything that we do. I wrote a bill that would withstand any question of its conditionality."

The court's four Democratic-appointed liberals, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, are widely expected to vote to uphold the healthcare law.

Conservative Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito are considered likely votes against the law, based on their comments in oral arguments in March or their past rulings.

Roberts expressed skepticism about the law during oral arguments in the health care cases. But oral arguments have traditionally been a notoriously poor guide to the end result in Supreme Court cases.

New screening test to help people with hearing loss in China

The University of Southampton has developed a new hearing screening test which could help the estimated 100 million people suffering from hearing loss in China.

This new Chinese version is based on a hearing screening test developed by the University's Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), which has already been taken by more than a million people across Europe.

The tests aim to address the fact that hundreds of millions of people worldwide have hearing loss but only a fraction obtain hearing aids that would help them to overcome hearing difficulties. The percentage of people with hearing loss using hearing aids has been estimated to be only 16 per cent in Europe, while the figure is as low as 1 per cent in China.

The availability of a telephone-based test enables individuals to obtain an objective assessment of their hearing ability and hence guidance on whether they should seek professional assistance. The tests developed at ISVR are based on listening to triple digit presentations, such as "2-5-9", against a background of noise and then pressing the corresponding numbers on the telephone keypad.

Correct responses lead to the noise level increasing, thereby making the test more difficult, while mistakes lead to the noise level deceasing, making the test easier. The overall test measures the highest noise level that is compatible with correct responses. Performance on the test reflects the main difficulty experienced in everyday life by people with a hearing loss, which is understanding what people are saying in a background of noise.

The test was developed by Professor Mark Lutman and Dr Guoping Li of the ISVR. Dr Li says: "This project will have a massive social impact in China. There are at least 100 million adults who are hearing impaired and this is the first adult hearing screening test via telephone made available in China."

Professor Lutman adds: "It is expected that widespread use of these tests in China will increase awareness of hearing problems and the availability of solutions, thereby reducing the social, health and economic burdens of hearing loss in the enormous population of China. These burdens will increase as the population distribution becomes older unless something is done to mitigate the effects of hearing loss."

The original test developed by Professor Lutman in ISVR was in English and was implemented by the Royal National Institute for Deaf people, RNID (now re-named Action on Hearing Loss) in 2005. Subsequent tests were developed in Swiss-German and Welsh.

This most recent test in Mandarin Chinese is sponsored by Beijing Telecom, Huawei and Tongren Hospital. A corresponding test for use over the Internet is also being prepared.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? Faster ways to search content on the Internet and share photos between two phones are promised in the next version of Google's Android operating system for mobile devices.

Android 4.1 is nicknamed Jelly Bean, following Google Inc.'s tradition of likening its updates to a delectable treat. Google previewed it Wednesday at a conference in San Francisco for computer programmers.

Android is now the chief rival to the mobile software running Apple's iPhone and iPad. Google said there are a million new Android devices activated daily, up from 400,000 a year ago. The company said there's particularly fast growth in emerging markets such as Brazil and India.

Jelly Bean will be available in mid-July. Some devices ? the Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Xoom and Nexus S ? will get it automatically as an over-the-air update. Google's new tablet computer, the Nexus 7, will also come with Jelly Bean.

One of the new features in Android will be Google Now, which is supposed to get you the right information at the right time automatically, if you activate the feature. If you say "traffic," for example, it will look at your usual commute to work and show you alternative routes if there's a lot of traffic. It will tell you the scores of your favorite sports teams automatically, and it will keep you up to date on the status of your flights if you're traveling.

Google said the Google Now feature will get smarter as you use it more.

The feature represents Google's response to Siri, the popular virtual assistant on Apple's iPhone.

Jelly Bean will also come with the ability to share photos by tapping two phones together, using an emerging wireless technology called near-field communications. The current version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, has limited ability to share data through NFC. Samsung Electronic Co.'s new Galaxy S III phone has a feature for sharing photos and video by tapping, but it works only with other S III phones.

The new Android also promises a smarter keyboard, with a feature for predicting your next word before you type.

It seems no one?is immune to her understated beauty?and self-deprecating charm. In fact, her New York Magazine profile was so glistening that some article commenters lambasted its ?girl crush? tone. Her fashion sense has been the center of envious attention, and her off-screen relationship with her "Spider-Man" co-star Andrew Garfield (which she?s reticent to publicly discuss) seems to be going swimmingly.

In choosing a mate both males and females rely on visual cues to determine which potential partner will supply the best genes, best nesting site, best territory, and best parenting skills. New research published in BioMed Central's open access journal Frontiers in Zoology shows that male blue tits' (Cyanistes caeruleus) parental behavior is determined by female ornamentation (ultraviolet coloration of the crown), as predicted by the differential allocation hypothesis (DAH).

DAH makes the assumption that aesthetic traits indicate quality and arises from the needs of a parent's current need to ensure current reproductive success and the reproductive success of their offspring. Ornamentation and its maintenance is a cost which reduces energy available for reproduction, but without the ornamentation an individual may not be able to secure a mate. Ornamentation also plays a role in competition between males and between females, as well as signaling potential reproductive success.

But reproductive success does not only depend on the best genes and the best nest, it also depends on parenting skills. Researchers from Konrad Lorenz Institute of Ethology, supported by the "Sparkling-Science" Program, investigated the effect of female ornamentation on the chick-rearing behavior of their mates. Both males and female blue tits have feathers on the top of their heads which reflect UV light. After their chicks had hatched, female blue tits were captured and their crowns smeared with either duck preen gland oil containing UV-blocking chemicals or the oil alone.

Although the UV-blocking chemicals did not alter the behavior of the females, their mates made fewer hunting trips to feed their brood. However the males made the same effort to protect their nest and defend their chicks as males with oil-only treated females.

Dr Matteo Griggio, co-author of this study, commented, "This is the first study to show that male blue tit behavior depends on female ornamentation. Even though our experiment was minimally invasive to avoid partners not being able to recognize each other, the behavior of male blue tits in this study matched the DAH. DAH also predicts that less attractive females should increase their parental investment but we found no compensatory female behavior."
